ASC’s Eldercare Sensor Tech: A GTM Case Study

Applied Sensor Co. designs and manufactures a privacy-first, pressure-sensing textile platform for healthcare and eldercare settings, providing care providers and families with passive, privacy-preserving insights into a resident’s well-being, with no cameras or microphones. Founded by Dr. Raymond King, whose earlier EMG research at Meta informed Meta’s CTRL-Labs acquisition, the company is based in Woodinville, WA, and ships consumer and B2B products today, including the SlumberTek bed-presence sensor and the TrampleTek Blue smart mat.

Challenge

Applied Sensor Co. had built genuine, patent-grade core technology: a multilayer sensor architecture in which conductive elements are embroidered directly into fabric, making the stitch itself the sensor. This proved that “smart textiles” aren’t a manufacturing problem perpetually ten years away but a viable solution today. The company’s challenge was translating that platform advantage into a repeatable go-to-market motion in the eldercare and healthcare channel: an industry with long sales cycles, layered procurement (facility operators, health systems, distributors, integrators), and strict requirements for privacy, reliability, and clinical credibility. It needed senior product and IP-aware go-to-market leadership to make that translation without the overhead of a full-time executive hire.

Objective

BlueConnect Partners was engaged to provide fractional executive leadership: Colin Burke McClure as Chief Product and Innovation Officer, Lew Brown as COO and Business Development Lead, to frame a concept-stage go-to-market and business plan for Applied Sensor Co., targeting both OEM and retail vertical channels while securing the platform’s foundational patent.

Engagement

The engagement focused on translating Applied Sensor Co.’s embroidered pressure-sensing platform from concept to a structured commercial plan: a GTM and business plan designed to drive OEM partnerships and retail vertical channels, alongside support for securing the platform’s foundational patent (US 12,612,720). BlueConnect’s fractional leadership team, Colin Burke McClure and Lew Brown, is embedded directly with founder Dr. Raymond King to execute the plan.

Delivery

Output of the engagement has included:

  • A concept-stage go-to-market and business plan spanning both OEM and retail vertical channels
  • A category and positioning narrative built around SlumberTek and TrampleTek Blue’s core differentiator: pressure sensing, with no cameras or microphones, for privacy-sensitive settings like bedrooms and care environments
  • Product roadmap and prioritization framework spanning the SlumberTek and TrampleTek Blue product lines
  • Support securing the company’s foundational patent (US 12,612,720) and translating it into a commercial narrative for OEM and care-provider audiences

Result

Applied Sensor Co. has moved from concept to execution: the company now holds an issued foundational patent, has a defined GTM and business plan covering OEM and retail channels, and is running multiple commercial pilots with care providers across the US.
